MASA-MASID and Federalism takes center stage during forum and awareness caravan
One month before the actual celebration of the 26th Local Government Code Anniversary, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 6 paraded its own way of celebrating this milestone through various activities, staged in Roxas City, Capiz.
Series of activities were conducted from September 12 to 15, as kick-off celebration of the anniversary starting with the updates on the locally-funded projects presented by Local Government Operations Officer VI Romie Potot. Regional orientation on the programs of the Department specifically the Masa Masid and Federalism was also conducted. Possible solutions and clarifications on issues and concerns were done through an open forum after each of the presentation of the resource persons namely Local Government Operations Officer V Stephanie Almira and Mr. Jonathan Malaya, Executive Director of PDP Laban Federalism Institute for the topic on Masa Masid and Federalism, respectively.
The last part of the kick-off activities was the Pahampang 2017 (Sports Fest) which started with a caravan in the vicinity of Roxas City aimed to raise people’s awareness on the 26th Local Government Code Anniversary, and as an advocacy for Masa Masid and Transition to Federalism programs of the Department.
The Pahampang 2017 is considered as one of the initiatives of the DILG Region 6 in putting primacy on the well-being, ensuring overall health and wellness of its employees. The sports played were basketball, volleyball, Laro ng Lahi and parlor games between the Regional Office and its Provincial Offices, fostering sportsmanship, camaraderie and solidarity among the personnel.
Adding color to the occasion is the cultural presentation which featured talents of five provincial units and the regional office personnel. Categories were Vocal Solo on Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and songs featured on Broadway Musicals and Group Rendition of Provincial/City Hymn.
The activities are among those set by the DILG 6 in line with the celebration of the 26th Local Government Code Anniversary. The lined-up programs and projects intend to celebrate the triumphs and gains of the Local Government Code. (RIO Christine S. Palma, DILG6)
